Emery

Screamo, post-punk, hard rock, or just plain emo - whatever. That doesn't change the fact that Emery still rocks better than almost any act on the scene today. Passionate singing, punk (as in 80s-era punk, not Green Day) guitar riffs, and mature lyrics make for one heck of a band. Their first full-length, The Weak's End, is by far better than The Question (which isn't a bad album on its own terms), their most recent release on indie giant Tooth and Nail Records. However, bands like this make me wish more self-proclaimed "emo" bands, such as The Used or Panic! at the Disco, would follow in their footsteps into becoming...well, real emo bands.

Recommended listens: "Walls," "The Ponytail Parades," and "To Whom It May Concern"

Oh wow, I LOOOOVE Emery. The Weak's End=sheer awesomeness that not any other "emo" band can acquire. I haven't really listened to The Question but i don't like that Studying Politics song.

Eeehh. I don't. Walls and Fractions are the 2 most best songs by Emery.

Kayleen who never posts

Hey Matt and All. I was reading your post and was curious to what you think about the lyrics of the songs. Does it matter if the lyrics are mature or do you all mainly listen to a song because of how it sounds? What would you consider mature lyrics? Just wondering...

Well, it depends on what music it is. Like for instance, Emery has really really good guitarists and I love how they layer their vocals in the way that they do. Some of the lyrics though are more "mature" and deal with problems in life and such. But Showbread have some of the most um... "unique" lyrics and don't make any sense to me whatsoever, but their music totally makes up for it. So, overall I think it just depends.

Oh, and thank you SO much for the "ignore Ricky's posts" comment Matt. I'm not coming to this blog anymore, seeing as my posts can't be heard.

Interesting; Thanks for answering. I listened to most of the songs you all put up there. I personally had a hard time (most of the time anyways) telling which bands are Christian just based on their lyrics. Showbread does have "interesting" songs...

I don't listen to much music, and the music I do listen to is Classical, or Celtic. I'm not really into the most of the modern music.

Ok, nevermind. I'm still gonna post bands even though there's probably not gonna be anyone reading them.
